The night sky lit up above the hospital this evening, and Radio Clatterbridge was there to capture the special moment. The annual Light Up A Life event took place before a large number of guests, raising money for St John's Hospice. Vicki Wood was on hand to look after proceedings for listeners unable to see the spectacular in person. The service will be broadcast at Christmas. Top Sunday 2nd December 2007
There's a new selection box for Radio Clatterbridge this Christmas. Rachael Howarth has handed over the reigns of the Tuesday Selection to newcomer Claire Vaughan. Claire, who hails from Northern Ireland, has been assisting Rachael with the programme for the last few weeks. Top Tuesday 4th December 2007
When Radio Clatterbridge daytime presenter Ian Grant was set a challenge to meet a promotional target at work to earn some hard cash for the charity of his choice, it was an offer he couldn't refuse. Ian, who works for ASDA in Arrowe Park, was promised two hundred pounds if he reached his goal. But, not one to be outbeaten, Ian challenged the snack food company to double the donation if he could beat the target. Today, the regional account manager of Mars was forced to eat some humble pie and presented Radio Clatterbridge with a cheque for four hundred pounds - proving that a challenge a day makes Radio Clatterbridge work, rest and play! Nice one Mars! Top Tuesday 4th December 2007
Radio Clatterbridge today unveiled its Christmas programme schedule. Highlights include an hour long interview with Wirral South MP Ben Chapman to be broadcast on Christmas Day. He talks to Paul Johnston about life in Parliament, his career working abroad as as a civil servant and how he came to represent Clatterbridge in the House of Commons. The station will also broadcast the Light Up a Life Ceremony recorded at St John’s Hospice earlier this month. New Year’s Eve will include the Time Out Annual looking back at the last 12 months, presented by Dave Gardner. The 2007 Request Chart will also be unveiled, compiled from listeners votes throughout the year. Will Robbie Williams be top again with Angels? There’ll also be special appearances by a couple of big names. Former Radio One DJ Gary King will be playing festive favourites in a Totally 80s special on Christmas Day, while legendary American DJ Wolfman Jack will have two hours of 60’s hits on Boxing Day. Programme Controller Paul Johnston said: “We’ve got something for all ages and tastes this Christmas to cater for people who are in hospital away from family and friends over the festive period.” Top Friday 14th December 2007
Katie Melua has made a remarkable comeback to Radio Clatterbridge's annual Most Wanted chart - twelve months after disappearing from the list altogether. The 23 year old singer's hit The Closest Thing To Crazy has been requested more than any other song in the last twelve months. The track made the Top 30 in 2004 and 2005 but then vanished from last year's chart! Robbie Williams' Angels, which has been number one for the last two years, slips to eighth in the 2007 list. As we enter Liverpool's year as European Capital of Culture, John Lennon makes a fitting entry at the top of the artists' chart. And, just months after the death of Luciano Pavarotti, the Italian tenor gets two posthumous entries in the countdown of this year's most requested classical pieces.
