One of our listeners

Clatterbridge Hospital is now host to a variety of local health trusts, all providing services for people with very different needs. People from all walks of life are admitted as patients. Radio Clatterbridge therefore has an extremely diverse audience.

The station broadcasts to most sections of the hospital via a network of land-lines. The average listener is generally middle-aged or older, although there are significant numbers of younger people in the hospital. Radio Clatterbridge volunteers are eager not to omit anyone from their programmes or ward visits!

The average stay for a patient at Clatterbridge is about eight days. Again, this is by no means the same for everyone. Clatterbridge has many day patients; and equally some people have to stay in hospital for a number of months. Again, we try to accommodate everyone.

Compared to a professional radio station, Radio Clatterbridge has a very small target audience. This makes it difficult to tell exactly how many people listen to the station at any one time. But the potential listenership is about ten thousand per year. And if the number of requests we collect is anything to go by, presenters certainly don't epitomise the hospital radio stereotype of broadcasting to themselves!
