"I was at Radio Clatterbridge from around 1995 to 1997 as a Saturday newsreader. The experience of dealing with deadlines, developing my voice and getting to grips with the equipment has been invaluable." "It was a great laugh," Claire continues. "We used to have so much fun working on Mark Lloyd's afternoon show, and the whole team worked together really well." Claire believes employers hold great value in experience at hospital radio stations. And she urges anyone with aspirations to work in broadcasting to join Radio Clatterbridge and help out in any way. "Apart from feeling like you're helping a really worthwhile service for the patients, and having a lot of fun in the process, it's also a brilliant career move if you want to work in the media... Experience of hospital radio demonstrates a real commitment to a career in broadcasting, which is exactly what universities and potential employers are looking for." Claire became the main investigative journalist on Beacon FM in Wolverhampton, and now works in public relations. |
