Service Resumes After Evacuation

Radio Clatterbridge studios were evacuated over the bank holiday weekend after a major high pressure oxygen leak from a large tank behind the station.

Fire crews attended the scene and cordoned off the immediate area.

Thankfully, security personnel remembered to alert both Saturday Sequence presenter Steve Evans and his guests and they were escorted to safety.

The leak was isolated within the hour, but Steve was advised to stay clear of the area until the fault was rectified.

Although the programme was unable to be transmitted, listeners didn't go short. Two pre-recorded programmes filled the gap while the studio was unattended.

The area is now once again safe and normal programming has been restored.

Steve's guests who were in the studio to chat about the 9th Wirral Folk on the Coast Festival will return on Wednesday morning for the Coffee Club from 10am.
