Gareth's Gandalf Former Radio Clatterbridge presenter Gareth Philips has revealed what it's like to work with Lord Of The Rings actor Sir Ian McKellan. Gareth, now Series Editor on Coronation Street, told today's Radio Times that all the members of the cast were word perfect on the day the former Oscar nominee joined them on the set of the soap. Sir Ian is playing author Mel Hutchwright in ten episodes of the ITV1 ratings-winner. Gareth presented a weekday evening programme on Radio Clatterbridge until 1997, when he left to pursue his television career.
