Staff Award Winner (Wirral Globe)

The Wirral Globe today reported: "Health care assistant Jan Griffin says she's 'overwhelmed' after winning the 2001 Radio Clatterbridge Staff Achievement Award. The mother-of-three was voted the favourite member of staff by patients at Clatterbridge Hospital. The award, which is now in its third year, is organised by the hospital's own radio station. Jan, who is from Pensby, works with people with mental health problems. She left Buckingham Ward in November to continue her work in the community with the Wirral Assertive Team. Her colleagues coaxed her to the surprise award ceremony at the hospital, saying she needed to attend a meeting. TV Weatherman Fred Talbot was on hand to present her with the accolade. Jan said: 'I'm absolutely overwhelmed - just lost for words. It was lovely.... I'm made up that all the people who have been in-patients in Clatterbridge have felt so strongly to vote for me.'"
