Kitchen Fires

A Kitchen Fire

A Kitchen Fire

Weblink: Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service

Twenty people a day are injured or killed in accidental fires starting in their kitchens.

It's easy for fat and cooking oil to catch fire, and around thirty chip pan fires occure each day in an average year.

In a chip pan fire, gently cover the pan with a fire blanket or damp tea towel.

If you think it's very serious, get everybody out of the house, dial 999 and stay out.

More information is available from the Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service website.
