Rae Voller

Rae Voller Rae Voller is the epitome of the type of person hospital radio can help to produce. After four years at Radio Clatterbridge, she now works part-time for two big London radio stations, is a trained nurse and has a full-time job working for a national trade union.

"I started working in radio as a result of my experience at Clatterbridge and then got fed up with radio and decided that nursing was more for me - must have been the influence of the hospital experience when I was collecting requests! But I still work part time at Magic 105.4 and Kiss FM which provides more income than being a student."

Rae spent most of her spare time at Radio Clatterbridge during the early 1990s. Then in her teens, she tried her hand at many things.

"I collected requests, read the news and tried desperately to change the rules so that I could present a programme," says Rae. "I designed the newsletter and generally got involved wherever I could. Oh, and mustn't forget my participation in the roadshows!"

It might be a few years since Rae has lived on Merseyside, but she has some lasting memories of her time at Radio Clatterbridge.

"There are one or two that I am not prepared to share... but those that aren't quite so personal would include the roadshows and the visits to the Dermatology unit to collect requests - the patients there were the most fun."

Rae has got in touch with some of her former colleagues again through the website Friends Reunited, but she now says she may now be tempted to call in to the station to see how things have changed.
