Music Library

The record library

The record library

This is where the majority of Radio Clatterbridge's fifty-year old collection of music is kept.

All of the station's CDs and vinyl is stored in this room. MiniDiscs are so small they can be kept in front of the presenter in Studio 1.

Special shelving in the Music Library ensures maximum use of the space provided to the station by the hospital.

Both of the main walls in the room are covered from floor to ceiling in music.

On the left hand side are the vinyl albums and extended twelve inch singles.

The vinyl singles are kept on the right hand side along with the CDs.

Each track on every CD and album, together with all singles, are all painstakingly catalogued and given a reference number.

Before their programme, presenters come into the Music Library to use the index card system to look up the location of the music that they need.

Some tracks are also kept on the computer for ease. But the station is still expected to keep this "physical" music library in place for many years to come.
