![]() Vince Tracy
Vince is a Cornwall-based cabaret artist, supply teacher and broadcaster. He joined Radio Clatterbridge in the early '70s. "It was about 1970 BC (before compacts) in the days when you had to negotiate for the key with the security man to get into the studio. I was a presenter on Friday evenings. I had to clean the studio of sweet wrappers from the previous presenters and also went round the wards taking requests... from the nurses!"." Apart from the nurses, Vince's lasting memory of the station is running the first Wirral Marathon in 1982. He was raising money for the Cyclotron Unit at the hospital and Radio Clatterbridge presenters managed to run alongside him doing an interview for 26 yards of the 26 miles. Vince left Radio Clatterbridge after joining BBC Radio Merseyside and starting to work in the nightclubs. He's currently working for a radio station in the Costa Blanca. "Radio Clatterbridge is well known throughout the world... It certainly appears to be much more professional in both equipment and attitude." So did he learn anything? Did Radio Clatterbridge make a difference to Vince's life? "It must have done as all experience in life has a relevance if you can see it. It taught me how to smuggle keys, negotiate with porters, sneak into the swimming pool and chat up the nurses." |
