Vic Storms The Fort
March 18, 2007
Radio Clatterbridge presenter Vic Charles stormed Fort Perch Rock today, when his band supported Merseybeat favourite and BBC Radio Merseyside presenter, Frankie Connor. The concert was one of The Merseybeat Story series of concerts at the popular Wirral venue. When he’s not lending his dulcet tones to Friday’s Clatterbridge Coffee Club, you can normally find Vic strumming his guitar at the Cheshire Cats in the 27 Club on Manor Road in Wallasey on Wednesday evenings. Vic plays lead for Jimmy O’Connor and The Hy-tones, a band originally formed in Huyton in the late 50’s, although only Jimmy is the remaining founding member. As well as supporting The Merseybeat Story at Fort Perch Rock, the band can also be seen regularly appearing at The Cavern in Liverpool, the well known birthplace of The Beatles. Cheshire Cats are a charitable organisation made up of members and supporters of the original 1960s Merseybeat bands.
