Dave Adams with Dave Williams

Mid-Morning Memories

Two Radio Clatterbridge stalwarts celebrated key moments in the station’s history at the weekend.

It was 39 years to the day since Dave Williams began broadcasting on the station. He was joined by his successor, mere stripling Dave Adams, who started on the same date in 1990!

There were surprises galore as old clips from the ’70s and ’80s shows were aired.

A number of special songs were also played to prompt memories including:

  • The Beatles – Penny Lane (1st single DPW ever bought) Abba – The Way Old Friends Do (a favourite of the late Sid Jones who co-presented in the 1990’s with both Dave’s)
  • The Pet Shop Boys – DPW’s favourite 80’s group
  • Andrew Gold – Thank you for being a friend (the theme for the old Saturday Selection request part of the show)
  • Denis King – The New Adventures of Black Beauty (the original theme for Television Themes and Trivia which DPW asked DA to do and has been running for 22 years)

As ever, requests are still a key part of the show and Holly Youlton was on hand with songs requested by two wards at Springview.
