Christopher was invited to see the newly refurbished Mersey ward and to learn more about the The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity. He revealed to listeners why he accepted the invitation.
Two of my uncles were cared for in Clatterbridge 18 months ago so that’s the link. The nurses do a fantastic job and if I can promote the charity in any way then that’s what I would like to do. It’s a fantastic charity. – Christopher Maloney
Talking to Afternoon Edition presenter Andy Bonner, Chris also revealed he had a “mini breakdown” after The X Factor.
He explained how negative press and lies about him being drunk and a diva tipped him over the edge after being voted out in the final.
I had a bit of a mini breakdown. I hid away for two weeks in my room and locked away the world… It was quite a difficult time for me. It’s now that I’m getting my life back together. Nothing prepares you for The X Factor. – Christopher Maloney
Christopher, who came third in the ITV talent show, says he is now on the “right track” after seeing the X Factor psychologist and other medics.
