Radio Clatterbridge listeners have heard from an inspiring young man who doesn’t let his disabilities stop him from doing some good.
Matty Heard appeared on the Coffee Club to publicise a charity swimathon he’s taking part in.
The 25 year old has severe disabilities including Cerebral Palsy, learning difficulties and is registered blind.
He’s told presenter Steve Evans how he hopes to raise lots of money for Marie Curie Cancer Care during the event at Neston Recreation Centre on 28th April.
“He is a very brave young man who is an inspiration to us all, he is very determined and eager to help others.” – Steve Evans, Presenter
Matty leads an active life, going to college with his carer Sean Murphy and learning about his favourite subject – computers. He and his brother even built one at home. Matty also goes to a Hot Wheels meeting for wheelchair users.
He is also a budding disc jockey and can be heard spinning the discs over the internet with his blind friend John. Needless to say, he was over the moon to be in our studio.
