Sunlight Shines For Festival
The sun came out to help Radio Clatterbridge celebrate the anniversary of one of Wirral’s most picturesque villages.
Port Sunlight marked 125 years since it was founded with a massive festival – and we were there to make sure our listeners didn’t miss out!
The station’s links with the area go right back to our early days when all of our volunteers were members of the Port Sunlight Boys’ Club.
This weekend, an estimated 35,000 people visited the village for the family event organised by the Port Sunlight Village Trust.
Radio Clatterbridge was there in full force aiming to raise a few pounds and spread the word about the charity.
Dave Harvey also presented a special programme live from Port Sunlight on Saturday lunchtime with guests talking about everything from dogs and buses to Victorian street theatre!
Port Sunlight was founded by Bolton-born businessman William Hesketh Lever in 1888. The village, which houses more than 2,000 people, remains home to the Unilever factory which spurred its growth.
Thanks also to our volunteers Steve Lord, Neil Jackson, Sue Taylor, Paul Size, Dave Bawden, Gel Derby, Ann Murray and Dave Adams who helped out on the day.
