The Light Up A Life service

Listeners See The Light

One of the biggest events of the calendar takes place at the Health Park this weekend and our listeners will get a chance to experience it even if they can’t be there in person.

Wirral Hospice St John’s holds its annual Light Up A Life service on Sunday.

The appeal, now in its 19th year, raises money for the charity by inviting people to sponsor a light in memory of a loved one.

Hundreds of people are expected to attend the switch-on ceremony this Sunday.

Radio Clatterbridge will be covering the service and relaying it to patients around the health park who can’t make it outside.

Listeners will be able to tune in to the special programme, hosted by Paul Johnston, from 5pm. Steve Lord will be covering the service and speaking to organisers.

“We’re really pleased with the way this year’s appeal is going. People have taken it to their hearts. We need this year to be a very special one, as the hospice is celebrating its 30th anniversary.” – Hospice fundraising manager Hayley Gough speaking to the Wirral Globe

More than £56,000 has been raised so far for the appeal.

The lights will remain lit until January.
