Last year's lights at Wirral Hospice St John's

Hospice Lights Brighter Than Ever

The lights will be shining brighter at Wirral Hospice St John’s this year.

Radio Clatterbridge listeners have learnt why the charity’s Light Up A Life appeal will be more vivid than ever.

Fundraising manager Hayley Gough popped into the studio to shed some light on the subject with Coffee Club presenter Gray Hawke.

She revealed that the traditional bulbs have been replaced with modern LEDs which shine brighter and use less energy.

Hayley also announced that the newly-extended facility in the health park will be entirely aglow.

“We’re having some extra lights which will mean that the whole 360 of the building will be covered in lights so it will be a real spectacle.” – Hayley Gough, Wirral Hospice St John’s

The annual switch-on takes place in the hospice garden on Sunday 7th December 2014 from 5.30pm and will be performed by Seren Saul, 11, and her sister Estelle, 7.

Now in its 19th year, it’s hoped the appeal will illuminate almost 10,000 lights dedicated to loved ones.

This year, the names of each remembered person will also be put into a hospice book of honour which will stay on diplay throughout the year.

The lights will remain lit until Twelfth Night (Monday 5th January 2015).

Last year’s campaign raised around £100,000 for hospice running costs.

To light a light for someone, phone the hospice on 0151 343 0778 or visit their website and let the lights shine out across Wirral this Christmas.
