Listeners of Radio Clatterbridge have voted the Pharrell Williams song Happy their favourite tune of 2014.

The chart-topper was revealed as presenter Paul Johnston counted down the most requested songs of the last 12 months.

We also revealed that we played more than 1,200 requests during the year.

The top requested artists were Queen, Pharrell Williams, Michael Buble, Frank Sinatra and Abba.

Of the top 30 most requested tunes, four songs have come out in the last two years and 14 others have not featured in the chart in the last 4 years.

Only 7 songs charted last year, making it a fresh countdown from 2013.

Our request team collected very few classical tunes, so our alternative chart is mainly made up of songs from the musicals.
