Actors Wanted To Break Free

A Wirral actor has returned to Radio Clatterbridge to talk about his forthcoming film.

Christopher Lee Power updated listeners about the progress of Breaking Free, a movie all about his life.

Based on his autobiography, the picture catalogues his tough childhood in Rock Ferry and Birkenhead before moving to Croydon and eventually becoming a professional actor.

More than 200 thespians packed the Floral Pavilion Theatre in New Brighton at an open casting session last year.

27 people were chosen for the film but some roles are still up for grabs – including that of a 5 year old Christopher who witnessed the aftermath of a murder in the early 1970s.

The Port Sunlight actor revealed to presenter Phil Rostance that two Wirral-born Brookside stars have agreed to appear in the film.

Ann-Marie Davies and Suzanne Collins will play the victim’s wife and Christopher’s mother respectively, subject to other commitments.

His 98 page autobiography comprises 21 nail-biting chapters and gives a detailed account of what it was like on the streets in and around Birkenhead during the 1970s and 1980s.
