“We’ve had great support from The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. It has been really fantastic.” – Joanne Dobbie, Maggie’s Centres
Joanne revealed how Maggie’s Merseyside is the first centre in the north west and the charity has ambitious plans to expand with a centre at The Christie in Manchester next year.
Coffee Club listeners heard how staff from The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre refer patients to Maggie’s on an informal basis and that people can use the charity regardless of when the diagnosis took place.
Maggie’s, which works closely with Macmillan and other charities, also offers a full timetable of activities throughout the week.
People can take courses varying from tai chi and yoga classes to nutrition and benefits advice and psychology appointments.
Joanne told listeners that the centre is also in the process of setting up a bereavement support service.
