Did Listeners Hear The Real Deal?

Listeners could be forgiven for thinking they were getting the Real Deal when David Dickinson appeared to have taken over the airwaves at Radio Clatterbridge.

But they soon learned they weren’t listening to the TV antiques expert – but a former Britain’s Got Talent finalist.

Les Gibson, who lives in Prenton, shared his take on a whole host of celebrities for presenter Paul Allt.

Listeners tuning in late to the Coffee Club would have been forgiven for thinking we had Lord Sugar, Ross Kemp, Nigel Farage, Kevin Webster and many more stars crammed into the studio.

The comedy impressionist read out pieces of news about the health park in the voice of famous characters including David Dickinson and X Factor voice-over Peter Dickson.

Les explained how he turned professional in 1999 after 13 years as a joiner.

But the impressionist said he was always making his friends laugh when he used to take off teachers at school.

He provided the entertainment at Paul’s wedding before being asked to apply for ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.

Les revealed how he was nervous before his audtion in the Manchester Opera House but told Paul how he received a standing ovation.

The comic did a two week nationwide tour after the programme’s grand final, including an emotional return to his home city of Liverpool to play the Echo Arena.
