Search For Hidden Carers

Radio Clatterbridge listeners have heard all about a new project to find and support hidden carers in the local community.

Wirral CVS has been awarded £470,000 for the Carer’s Mentoring Project to help unpaid adults who don’t currently receive any support.

The 4-year project will also target former carers who are struggling to reintegrate into society when their care duties end.

Paul Growney told Coffee Club presenter Phil Rostance how the charity realised there was an overwhelming need to increase local support services after talking to local groups and carers.

“Many carers find themselves socially isolated and are often very stressed and unaware of the support available.” – Paul Growney, Wirral CVS

Paul explained how many people don’t see themselves as a carer but instead think of their role as a relative.
