Father Christmas heads to Clatterbridge

Father Christmas is heading to Clatterbridge – and our listeners have got the inside scoop on where to meet him!

The big man will be meeting youngsters at Claremont Farm this weekend as part of the Fabulous Frost Fair.

Now in its second year, the event has moved to the Clatterbridge venue after outgrowing its previous home at Hillbark Hotel.

Organiser Tanya Leary showed presenter Andy Bonner around the site as they prepared the marquees and special chalets for thousands of visitors.

With 60 exhibitors from the local area, people will be able to order virtually anything for their Christmas table – from the drinks to the turkey.

There are also gift ideas such as custom-made jewellery, demonstrations from the Claremont kitchen and the obligatory mulled wine.

“Claremont have got such a lovely ethos. They are all about local, people and community. So it was a really nice blend of people to work with.” – Tanya Leary, Organiser

Listeners to the Afternoon Edition heard how Santa and his reindeers may well be the stars of the show.

He will be telling stories to children on Sunday from 10am to 4pm with all money going directly to The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.

Tanya, her sister Soraya Corbett and their friend Ali Marshall decided to hold the event after their families were affected by cancer.

“We want to raise as much money as we can for Clatterbridge but we also want to remind people to spend time with their friends and family because memories are what keep us going when times get hard.” – Tanya Leary, Organiser

Wirral Food Bank will also benefit from this unique new three-day winter experience.
