Mark Ronson

Uptown Funk is your most wanted song

Radio Clatterbridge listeners have voted Uptown Funk their favourite song of 2015.

The track, by British producer Mark Ronson, tops a poll of the most requested songs on the station over the last twelve months.

The news was revealed by presenter Paul Johnston during the annual New Year’s Eve countdown.

The song, released in November 2014 and featuring Bruno Mars, has now sold more than two million copies to become the fifth biggest-selling single in UK chart history.

In a completely new top three, George Ezra’s Budapest stood way out in front of Up by Olly Murs and Demi Lovato which took the bronze position.

Last year’s number one, Happy by Pharrell Williams, slips to number 6.

This year’s Most Wanted chart saw only five songs from last year’s list appear.

Robbie Wiliams and Tina Turner, stalwarts of the countdown, remarkably failed to make it into the final 30.

Each week, our dedicated team of request collectors visit various parts of the health park to make sure we’re representing the music tastes of everyone in Clatterbridge.

We played nearly 1,000 requests in 2015 with people also asking for songs online, by text or by phone.
