Easter comes early to Clatterbridge
Radio Clatterbridge listeners became virtual pillion passengers when they heard about thousands of motorcyclists arriving near the Health Park to deliver eggs to poorly children in time for Easter.
Presenter Gray Hawke joined thousands of other bikers on a fresh, sunny Sunday morning to take part in the annual Wirral Egg Run Tribute Ride
Starting at the Dips in New Brighton, the event took the traditional route via Leasowe, Moreton, Hoylake, West Kirby, Heswall and Thornton Hough to Clatterbridge.
Claire House was one of three local charities to benefit from the event.
They received more than 560 chocolate eggs and raised more than £2,500 in donations.
“It was a great experience. We were waved and cheered on by enthusiastic crowds all the way!” – Presenter Gray Hawke
Many riders turned out in fancy dress and there were plenty of intrepid soft toys strapped on for the ride as well.
The original event was cancelled three years ago because of funding problems but riders have come from across the country for their own version ever since.
The other charities to benefit this year were North West Air Ambulance and Wirral Blood Bikes.
