Be a Santa to a senior

Coffee Club listeners have heard how they can help older people on their own this Christmas by simply buying them a present.

The idea comes from one of Radio Clatterbridge’s sponsors, Home Instead Senior Care.

Be A Santa To A Senior means people can give a present to a stranger without having to worry whether it is going to a good home.

Organiser Sandra Scott explained how they’re matching present ideas with the first names of people who are referred to them as being isolated on the Wirral peninsular during the winter.

The information is written onto a gift tag and hung on one of a number of Christmas trees throughout the area for people to take away.

They then return with the present for Home Instead to wrap, label and distribute to the beneficiary.

“This is the community helping the community… it’s just absolutely wonderful. We know we’re helping people.” – Sandra Scott

Last year nearly 400 gifts were given out through the scheme.

Organisers are hoping they will do even better this year and have added a tree at Claremont Farm in Clatterbridge to help.
