Liverpool Overhead Railway talk helps raise funds for League of Friends
A talk on the Liverpool Overhead Railway has helped raise hundreds of pounds for the Clatterbridge Hospitals League of Friends.
Radio Clatterbridge presenter Dave Adams introduced the event at Wirral Rugby Club.

Local historian and author Gavin Hunter revealed secrets and memories of the line, including lots of useful tips on where to find remnants of the Dockers’ Umbrella.
The world’s first electric elevated railway, it operated along Liverpool’s docks from 1893.
It closed in 1956 and was later dismantled after a report showed major costly repairs were needed to the viaducts.

Radio Clatterbridge volunteers June Wood and Mal Vaughan were amongst the 85 guests at the fundraiser.
The League of Friends helps provide amenities and other services at Clatterbridge Health Park.
