Christopher Maloney from his book Wildcard

Christopher Maloney promises “revelations” in new book

Christopher Maloney has told Radio Clatterbridge listeners to expect some revelations in his new autobiography.

The X Factor and Celebrity Big Brother star’s first book has gone on sale this week.

Speaking to presenter Di Gaskell on his way to a performance in Blackpool, he said the book’s title, Wildcard, is a reference to becoming the wild card singer in the X Factor finals in 2012 when he first rose to fame.

The former call centre worker was mentored by Take That’s Gary Barlow who warned him not to go on social media during the show.

But Chris said it was difficult – despite suffering abuse at the hands of internet trolls.

“It was very hard not to… You’ve got to connect with your fans. That’s why I’m on social media.” – Christopher Maloney

Chris followed his success with a record deal and appeared in one of the most popular series of Celebrity Big Brother ever, with Gemma Collins, David Gest and Darren Day.

He has also now opened two theatre and performing arts academies – one in Anfield and one at Tranmere Rovers’ Prenton Park ground.

He told listeners how he uses them as opportunities to pass on his experience to the young pupils.

“I wanted to give something back to my community. The kids have gone on to do West End, panto, TV and film.” – Christopher Maloney

Chris, who is a big advocate of the work here at Clatterbridge, is playing the prince in Cinderella in Northampton this year but he will be travelling back to Merseyside to spend Christmas Day with his mum and family.

And he revealed he’s in talks about recording another single next year followed by a theatre Q&A tour – including a date in Liverpool.
