Lauren Ray on the Neston nurse who led her to music

An upcoming singer-songwriter has told Radio Clatterbridge how she got into music because of her mum’s envy of the piano skills of a local nurse.

Lauren Ray appears on tour with Paul Carrack from Mike + The Mechanics at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall next month.

In an interview with Coffee Club presenter Di Gaskell, she revealed how she was destined to play because her mother, a midwife in Neston, always wished she played the piano like one of her colleagues.

“As soon as she had kids she encouraged us all to play instruments. I was the only one who took it on as a full time thing.” – Lauren Ray

Lauren has previously toured with Lucy Spraggan, Anastacia and Rebecca Ferguson who she supported during her home-coming gig in Liverpool in February.

She returns to the city on 18th and 19th January 2019 as part of a 30-date tour with Carrack.

Lauren explained how she will be stripping back songs from her first album We Will Need Courage whilst unveiling some songs from her new album which is due out next spring.

She will also be playing music from her current EP Inside The Silence which chronicles her relationship with the music industry and features the single Be A Man.
