Charity chairman Steve Evans receives the donation from Tesco's Lindsay Kennedy

Tesco donation means every little vote really did help

Radio Clatterbridge has thanked shoppers for their votes in the latest Bags of Help poll at Tesco Heswall.

We were delighted to receive a donation of £2,000 thanks to the scheme.

The supermarket’s community champion, Lindsay Kennedy, popped down to the studios with the good news… and a very large cheque!

She explained to Coffee Club presenter Geoff Peters how money raised from the sale of plastic carrier bags is given back to good causes across the country.

In Heswall, they have given away £150,000 in the 18 months since the blue token scheme began.

The station will put the money towards our ongoing refurbishment and studio upgrade.

The North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust‘s project to provide a defibrillator in the community and Hilbre High School‘s plans for an eco garden also benefited from donations in the same round as Radio Clatterbridge.
