Our Steve walks in on Daywalker

Presenter Steve Evans got more than he bargained for after he interviewed a local band.

The Coffee Club host had just recorded a studio chat with Wirral foursome Daywalker when he walked in on their own live broadcast outside the station.

But Steve styled it out and joined the fun on the group’s video on Facebook Live.

“We’ve just done a radio interview with Steve Evans,” explained the band to their fans moments before the presenter left the building walking straight into shot.

It’s not the first time Daywalker have been to the studio – and long-term band member Dave Robinson was also on the presenting team at Radio Clatterbridge.

Bandmates Barry Waring, Gary Turnock and Dave Kinder joined him in the studio to promote some of their upcoming gigs and their new single The Other Side Of Me.

Originally founded in 2004 as a five-piece, Daywalker band reformed after a few years’ hiatus when the lads went their separate ways.

“It never really ended. We just decided to give it another proper go.” – Dave Robinson

The band has played all over the country and perform live every month – though they find they now often need to supplement their repertoire with cover versions.

The musicians are still writing and recording their own original tracks and filming videos to accompany them too.

In fact, Steve and Dave Coroner, another former Radio Clatterbridge presenter, have both lent their voices to a fictional radio station for the full-length video to the song Through The Rain.

Meanwhile, another Wirral singer has made a welcome return to the studio.

West End star Tom Spence was back before our microphones to talk about a weekend of music here in Clatterbridge.

The classical crossover tenor is performing tonight, Friday 10th May 2019, at Claremont Farm with his live band and special guest vocalists for Friday Night Is Music Night.

Then from 2pm until 10pm tomorrow, there are lots of acts taking part in the Spring Shindig.
