Live programmes resume
July 4, 2020
Live broadcasts have resumed at Radio Clatterbridge as listeners get used to living with the “new normal”.
The charity has remained on air during the coronavirus pandemic to include vital information for staff, patients and visitors at Clatterbridge Health Park in addition to its usual mix of entertainment and news.
Now, influenced by the guidance of the Hospital Broadcasting Association and the NHS Trusts on site, station leaders have agreed it is time to reintroduce programmes which will be better placed to react to the changing situation and provide some much-needed diversion.
In line with the government’s date to further ease restrictions, from today presenters are able to return to the studio which has undergone a deep clean in preparation for their return.
Many of the team of volunteers have kept the station on air over the last three months thanks to a combination of pre-recorded programmes and shows presented from their homes.
And they have been keeping in touch with each other by meeting up regularly on Zoom.
“It has been a challenging time for us all over the last few months, although we have never stopped broadcasting for one minute in that period. We have tried to keep our listeners updated with links and relevant adverts during the crisis and a host of presenters have recorded programmes at home to ensure our output is timely and relevant.” – Steve Evans, Chairman
Unfortunately, the hard-working request team are unable to return just now as they await permission to return to the wards.
But our request lines are now back open and we welcome listeners to contact us with their song choices once again.
“Please continue to listen to us and thank you for your patience and support. Special thanks go to all our very keen members – presenters, request team and support teams, who have always been willing to return as soon as they were allowed.” – Steve Evans, Chairman
Some programme changes are still likely over the coming weeks as presenters ease back to their shows.
