Imagine that! John Lennon tops our chart

Nearly half a century after the release of John Lennon's best-selling single, Radio Clatterbridge listeners have voted Imagine their most requested song of the year.

The former Beatle tops our annual chart compiled from our listeners' requests.

It's the first time the tune has made it to number one despite regularly appearing in the Top 30.

Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, which didn't even feature in last year's chart, made it to second place hot off the back of the success of the biopic of the same name.

Last year's number one, Tina Turner's The Best, slumps to 8th.

Queen were the most requested artist of the year, followed by Abba, The Killers, Frank Sinatra and John Lennon.

We played nearly one thousand requests in 2018.

Our thanks to our request team (Heather, Mal, Alex, Gaynor, Jessica, Kate, Sue, Harriet, Mandy, Mark, Polly & Richard) for visiting patients and our presenters for collecting songs for the Team of the Week.
