I joined Radio Clatterbridge in 2023, bringing years of on-air and behind-the-scenes experience. I’ve helped drive the station into its next chapter whilst hosting energetic, feel-good shows loved across the Health Park—especially during the festive Light up a Life season. As Chair of Trustees and Programme Controller, I guide the schedule, refine the output and support our dedicated volunteer team.

I became involved with Radio Clatterbridge after being a finalist in the Radio City DJ of the Year competition, presenting segments with Pete Waterman. A passionate broadcaster, I joined the station in gratitude for my mother’s pioneering cancer treatment. Now also a Charity Trustee and Treasurer, I support the station’s community broadcasting mission across the Wirral.

I began volunteering at Radio Clatterbridge in 2009 after my brother invited me to help repair and maintain station equipment. A year later, I stepped behind the mic to present a Sunday afternoon oldies show. I rebuilt Studio 2 and have supported countless technical changes. Now retired, I continue proudly volunteering as both engineer and presenter.

I joined hospital radio in 2014 as a secretary before joining Radio Clatterbridge in 2017. A proud award winner, I have brought home three awards in ten years, including a Gold shared with the late Beryl Griffith. I love station life, and cherish every listener’s company. Remember, your strength is far greater than any storm.

I joined our radio station in 1990 initially just playing Television Themes and they have been part of my programmes for over 35 years! I hosted our 60th Anniversary Special and interviewed Monty Lister - a key figure in our early days and an interviewer’s dream. I am Wirral born, a retired Civil Servant and President of the Friends of Clatterbridge.

After retiring, I finally followed my lifelong love of radio—a decision I’ve never regretted. At Radio Clatterbridge, I help brighten the days of patients and staff, whether it’s collecting requests or sharing silly songs with ladies awaiting hip surgery. Those small moments of laughter make mornings joyful, proving that even one smile can make everything worthwhile.

I joined Radio Clatterbridge in 1979 at sixteen, instantly captivated by the magic of the studio. Too young to broadcast, I happily helped behind the scenes until I turned eighteen and was finally let loose on air. In the eighties I served as Programme Controller, coordinating shows and presenters, championing creativity and valuing the freedom our broadcasters have to choose their own music each week.

I returned to radio by joining Radio Clatterbridge, where I host the Sunday Jaunt, sharing music from every decade and being part of a warm and creative community. Highlights include presenting the Marie Curie Day of Reflection show and engaging listeners with interactive features. Off-air, I love football, gigs, learning French, documentaries and perfecting my roast-dinner timing. I will nail it one day! I’m proud to be part of Radio Clatterbridge and its 75th year.

Passionate about pop music, I began my journey with Radio Clatterbridge in 1981, initially visiting the studio out of curiosity. I started broadcasting in 1982 and continued until 2008, stepping back to earn a B.A. Honours in History from The Open University. After a 16-year hiatus, I returned to live radio early last year, continuing my decades-long connection with the station.

A close friend of mine suggested that I should join Radio Clatterbridge. I didn’t need to think twice and applied. I’ve presented The 80s Pick ‘N’ Mix on Saturdays since July 2025. During training I had the privilege of meeting the station president Roger Hazlewood. It was fantastic to hear him talk about his involvement with the station and its history. I have been in radio since 2010 and hope I will be for many years to come.

I joined Radio Clatterbridge to give back to Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and St John’s Hospice for their support over the years. An actor, writer, and newly-qualified journalist, I’m passionate about music, theatre, and the arts. As a presenter, I’ve enjoyed creating features and theme weeks, including my International Women’s Day show celebrating empowering female artists.

I returned to the Wirral after 30 years away. I wanted to volunteer and the radio station jumped out at me. Little did I know I would be live on the radio! A favourite memory is of an elderly patient I met. She wrote poems to occupy the long days, the look of joy on her face when I asked to read them was priceless to me. I am young at heart and lucky enough to travel. I’m affectionately called Dora the Explorer by the team. I hope I bring a bit of cheer out on the health park and at our community events.

After sharing my running and fundraising story on Radio Clatterbridge, I was hooked. Training, presenting, and promoting the station has been incredible. Family comes first, and inspired by the support we received through cancer, I give back through fundraising and community work honouring loved ones and helping others on their journey, one small act at a time.

My love of radio began with a childhood dream of being a newsreader. Volunteering at a hospice led me to Radio Clatterbridge, where I started collecting ward requests. I treasure the fun moments, like April singing in Spanish, and enjoy sharing trivia on my show. I’m always learning, inspired by music experts Mal Vaughan and Peter Mallon.

I joined Radio Clatterbridge in 2016 as a request collector for In the Mix, meeting patients and staff and hearing their fascinating stories. The show’s camaraderie reflects everything the station stands for. I began presenting my own programme in 2017, enjoying the variety each week. I love all kinds of music, play guitar in my spare time, and once had breakfast with Kenny Rogers.

Proud Wirralian from Birkenhead and retired civil servant, I joined Radio Clatterbridge in 2023 as a request collector. I love sharing patients’ stories, connecting with people, and fundraising in the community—combining music and community spirit is the perfect way to spend a few hours each week.

After moving from North Wales to the Wirral, I joined Radio Clatterbridge in 2018 and feel proud to be part of the Saturday morning team. Every show is different, and I’ve met many wonderful people. I still feel a sense of “hiraeth” (a sense of home) with Welsh requests, and Radio Clatterbridge has been a constant and supportive presence in my life.

I’m a journalist with an old school love for storytelling and a soft spot for rock music. I found my way to Radio Clatterbridge in May 2020 after my tutor said I had “A good voice for radio”. Being autistic I often felt I wasn’t good enough. Thanks to my childhood memories of grandad’s tape recorder, vinyl records, news bulletins on the radio, I realised radio and music had always been a part of me and it’s a joy to meet people on the health park.

I got involved with Radio Clatterbridge after John Roberts & Paul Allt invited me to “have a go” 10 years ago. I have always been interested/involved in music and local entertainment. Via my other passion of Football , we have interviewed Jan Molby and John Barnes on the station. I like a wide range of music - old, new, borrowed and blue.

At 21, I discovered Radio Clatterbridge thanks to friend Gary Murray, beginning a lifelong passion for broadcasting. From the early studio days to helping prepare the station’s 25th anniversary— and even a memorable visit with Kenny Everett—radio has shaped my life. Now 72 and undergoing treatment for blood cancer, I still produce four weekly shows and remain dedicated to the station I love.

I joined Radio Clatterbridge through one of my mum’s colleagues and began as a team member on the Saturday show In the Mix. After training in presenting, I launched my own programme, Jake’s Jukebox. From my first broadcast to festive Christmas Eve specials and celebrating a decade of the show, Radio Clatterbridge has given me countless unforgettable memories.

A lifelong music lover and seasoned broadcaster, I’ve spent decades behind the decks from early DJ residencies and mobile discos to presenting on hospital radio stations. My journey has always been driven by one thing: bringing people together through great music and genuine connection.
Today, I’m proud to be part of Clatterbridge Hospital Radio, combining years of on‑air experience with a heartfelt commitment to lifting listeners’ spirits. My style is warm and friendly that keeps people company and brings a touch of brightness into their day.
Known for smooth links, strong music knowledge and nostalgia‑led memories, I still love creating moments that feel personal and meaningful, and the joy of putting a smile on someone’s face with the right song has never faded.
My only regret is missing the boat with pirate‑radio.
