Andy Bonner

Andy has been at Radio Clatterbridge since he was at school.

He began presenting his first programme as soon as he was old enough - about a week after his 18th birthday.

Andy once presented a forty-hour marathon broadcast to raise the profile of the charity and even wrote the station's only-ever soap opera.

"With acting more wooden than a pine wardrobe, it's a good job a second series was never commissioned."

Andy is an award-winning television journalist and has interviewed everyone from Tony Blair to Quentin Tarantino.

But he loves nothing better than the intimacy of radio - although one broadcast became slightly more public than he had envisaged.

"I was asked to read the news sitting in a bed as a publicity stunt for a breakfast show. What they didn't tell me is they were going to put the bed on the back of a lorry and drive it to a motorway roundabout!"

After spending more than half of his life at Radio Clatterbridge, Andy admits he will probably still be volunteering when he collects his pension.
