Aztec Camera are top of the pops at the Health Park

A song that was almost released as a B-side has been crowned the most popular tune at Clatterbridge Health Park in 2022.

In a special programme broadcast on New Year’s Eve, Mike Eveleigh revealed that Aztec Camera’s 1988 hit, Somewhere in my Heart, was requested most over the past 12 months.

Band member Roddy Frame is quoted as saying he considered the song not in keeping with the album it was featured on, and initially he thought it would be better featured as a supplementary song to a 7 inch single release.

Runner-up was ELO’s ‘Mr Blue Sky’, while Ed Sheeran ranked number three with ‘Perfect’.

A total of 720 requests have been played by Radio Clatterbridge over the past year.
