Sue, Amanda, Jean and Lindsey in Firtrees Restaurant celebrating the Leagues 70th

On Thursday 1st February and 70 years to the day since the League’s launch on 1st February 1954, Clatterbridge Hospitals League of Friends (CHLoF) celebrated their Platinum Anniversary.

Chair, Amanda Rummery and committee members, Jean Lewis, Lindsey Lawrence, Jill Owen, and Sue (James) Cox hosted a stand in Firtrees Restaurant on the Health Park. A selection of cakes and memorabilia was on display including a montage of one hundred posts from the CHLoF Archives produced by Dave Adams.

Tony Probbing (Associate Director of Allied Health Professionals and Divisional Lead for Corporate Nursing) was on hand to offer his thanks for the work the CHLoF has done. Whilst Jane Roles and Lol Pidcock from Lymphoedema also visited to thank the League for all the support given to their department over the years. The League also received donations and thanks from former patients at Clatterbridge.

Lynn Farrell from the Enterprise Credit Union presented Amanda with a cheque for £842.60, after the League was nominated for this by the Board of the Union. A fitting birthday donation indeed!

Then at 2pm Ian Grant hosted a special programme in studio 1 at Radio Clatterbridge. Ian interviewed Amanda who talked about the League’s great history, but how important it is they now look to the future and find willing additional volunteers to continue the legacy.
