Presenter Raises Funds for Pulmonary Fibrosis

Former station presenter Gray Hawke who had been with Radio Clatterbridge for almost thirteen years, dropped by recently to chat with Steve Evans in Studio 1. Gray was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis a year ago. He updated us on his health and life in general, plus how he recently raised funds for Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis (actionpf.org).

As Gray looks to the future, he has prioritised what he wants to achieve. Obviously, his family come first and foremost. Followed by the motor home, in which he’ll be heading off on holiday with his wife now the weather is improving. He also still enjoys riding his trusty vintage motor bike.

Gray has always had a passion for music and used to do gigs in local pubs. He is an avid folk music fan and recently sang at a folk gig in The Merebrook pub, Bromborough with his close friends from various ends of the country. They wore the charities colourful branded t-shirts on the night, to help raise funds for Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Gray and his friends; Hamish Currie and Dave Philips, performing as ‘The Stationary Bilberries’ (live, for one night only), sang twelve songs for the large audience in the function suite at the pub in Bromborough, that hold regular folk nights. The gig was recorded on the night for later use and distribution on MP3 and CD.

Between Gray chatting to Steve in the studio, three tracks from the night were played out including ‘Highwayman’ and ‘Stray Cat Strut’. The final track, was a rare treat these days of Gray singing solo to the melody ‘Carrickfergus’.

Gray told us about the support that is available through Action Pulmonary Fibrosis which is on most social platforms or by visiting their website www.actionpf.org .
